As part of a changed routine I'm trying to read more intentionally and more regularly. Part of reading more intentionally is to also then commit myself to making a brief summary of the book. I think that this will assist my learning and commitment to reading and understanding what the author is saying.
Here's the list to date (in rough categories):
GEN Y
The Spirit of Generation Y - Mason et al
The ABC of XYZ - McCrindle
The new rules of engagement - McQueen
(plus a whole stack of journal and short articles)
GENESIS
The Lost world of Genesis - Walton
In the beginning - Blocher
The Greatest show on earth - Dawkins
Genesis - Waltke
Genesis 1-15 - Wenham
Understanding Genesis - Sarna
In six days - Ashton
OTHER
Movements that changed the world - Addison
The trellis and the vine - Marshall & Payne
He'll be OK - Lashlie
Called to minister - Frame
The shock doctrine - Kline
Blue collar ministry - Sample
Swords drawn - Guinness
Got any suggestions?

Sounds fun. I skim read Spirit of Gen Y (I think) while waiting for something at someone's house... got some good ideas out of it. Keen to hear how you go.
ReplyDeleteOn Genesis it'd be worth checking out anything Walter Bruggemann's done -- he's often whacky but always fascinating!
ReplyDeleteSchaeffer's 'Genesis in space and time
ReplyDeleteHave you got a copy of Sample? I think I should have a read of that one too.
